George Richard Hilsdon, a football player who started his career at West Ham United and made his debut in the 1903–04 season, lived from 10 August 1885 until 10 September 1941. At this time, Jack Hilsdon, his brother, was a West Ham player. When Hilsdon left West Ham to join Chelsea in 1906, he became the first player to hit 100 goals for the West London team.

George Hilsdon played for Chelsea after signing from West Ham in 1906 on a weekly salary of £4, a far cry from the footballing riches currently in SW6. His transition from East to West London was easy, and in his first 99 games with the Blues, he scored 76 goals.

In fact, he scored five goals on his debut alone, putting Hilsdon on track to become the first Chelsea player to hit 100 goals since the club was founded in 1905. Because Hilsdon’s shots “were absolutely unstoppable and which travel like shots from a gun,” he was given the moniker “Gatling Gun”.

9. Eden Hazard – 110 goals, 2012-2019

Belgian wing wizard Eden Hazard, the only wide player on this list, scored an incredible 110 goals while wearing a Chelsea jersey between 2012 and 2019, 85 of which came in the Premier League. Following his £32 million transfer from Ligue 1 club Lille, Hazard tortured defenses by playing in a style that few Chelsea supporters had seen since Gianfranco Zola’s era.

The winger showed excellent agility, vision, and skill, and he also had a knack for scoring goals, finishing six of his seven seasons in a blue shirt with double digits across all competitions. Throughout his 352 appearances for Chelsea, Hazard consistently asserted himself as one of the best players in the world of football and was unstoppable on his days.

With four Chelsea Player of the Year titles and other individual honors, Hazard’s devoted Chelsea supporters had nothing against him when he decided to transfer to Real Madrid for a significant quantity of money in the summer of 2019.

The most notable goal scorer for Chelsea during the war was George Mills. Despite recording 125 strikes in 14 years at Stamford Bridge, the one-club man is frequently forgotten in the club’s annals of history. Before scoring a hat-trick against Liverpool in August 1937 in the Blues’ 6-1 victory, Mills scored 22 goals in the 1936–1937 campaign, his best output while wearing a Chelsea jersey.

Surprisingly, Mills is still the only Chelsea player to have scored three goals in a single game against the Merseyside club.

He was Chelsea’s second-highest goalscorer of all time when he left the team with which he first gained notoriety in 1961 for Italian powerhouse AC Milan.

Greaves still maintains the record for the most goals scored in a single season for the West London team with 43 in the 1960–61 campaign, despite currently occupying the seventh spot in the top ten. Greaves, who was hailed as one of the best English goal scorers in history, has all the traits of a goal-hungry poacher while still playing with a cool head and delicacy.

He won the affection of Blues supporters after graduating from a Chelsea youth squad in which he once scored 122 goals in a single season, and the fact that he is the all-time leading scorer for London rivals Tottenham does little to diminish his reputation and position with Chelsea.

Chelsea supporters were naturally thrilled to sign then-bricklayer Peter Osgood in February 1964 after he scored 30 goals in his debut season with the Blues’ reserves after nearly signing for Arsenal as a teenager. Supporters dubbed the number nine “the King of Stamford Bridge” and “the Wizard of Os” after Osgood scored 148 goals during his first stint with Chelsea.

The tall center forward was the face of Chelsea’s storied 1970 FA Cup-winning season, scoring a goal in each round as Chelsea defeated Leeds United 2-1 in the rescheduled final.

Osgood was surrounded by love and admiration at Stamford Bridge, so it seemed natural that when he left for Southampton in 1974, he would eventually make his way back to the Blues. At Chelsea, “Ossie” finished his playing days in 1979.
