According to Sport1, Bayern Munich has initiated negotiations to sign a contract with Chelsea’s goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in the summer of 2023. Thomas Tuchel has previously worked with Kepa at Chelsea, and he desires a reunion with the 1994-born goalkeeper in Germany.
The German coach urges Bayern’s board to acquire the Spanish player. During Tuchel’s tenure, Kepa had to serve as a backup to Edouard Mendy. After Mendy’s move to Saudi Arabia, Kepa is expected to start in Chelsea’s Premier League opening match against Liverpool.
Kepa will face competition from Robert Sanchez, a player Chelsea acquired for £25 million from Brighton. Prior to joining Chelsea, Kepa moved from Athletic Bilbao in a deal worth £71.6 million. He still has 2 years left on his contract with The Blues and earns around £190,000 per week.
