Events: Arts Gallery Spring Exhibition: "…same as it ever was" The next exhibition at the Arts Gallery is a joint project between the Arts Gallery and Chelsea celebrating the narrative of convergence, influence and the success of staff and alumni at Chelsea 1990 - 2007. As such it is an enquiry into the nature of painting in the 21st Century. Artists in this show include major international figures like Peter Doig, Chris Ofili, Martin Creed, Chantal Joffe and Neal Tait. The curator is former Head of Painting, Clyde Hopkins. The exhibition runs from 24th January - 29th February and the Arts Gallery is on the ground floor of Davies Street. Related exhibitions are running concurrently at the Chelsea FutureSpace from 21st January - 26th February and at The Triangle Space from 17th January - 2nd February. Exhibiting the work of more than 45 artists simultaneously across three University galleries is a first and promises to be an intellectual and visual treat. The works on display at the Arts Gallery will primarily be by alumni, whilst works at the Triangle and Chelsea FutureSpace galleries will focus on the practice of painting tutors. In-conversation event with Clyde Hopkins 7 February, 6.30pm in the Arts Gallery Clyde will talk about his experience at Chelsea, the people he taught, the concept of the show. Open to all.
