[edit] Forthcoming and current Exhibitions[edit] Kindling Nicht FüR KinderYou are cordially invited to attend the opening of Emily Paige Short's large-scale moving skulptur and take part of an evening of food and symphonic rehearsals. 'Kindling Nicht Für Kinder' is a Ballad of a Fool-Dance-Skulptur set in Chelsea College of Art's Victorian Banqueting Hall. This event marks the first stage of a dramatic installation destined finally to burn to ashes in June in Chelsea College's Parade Ground (If consent is approved!) Accompanied by a symphonic Rehearsal and International Food Buffet. Life-Cycle of Kindling-Dome begins in the BANQUETING HALL Monday 21 May 2007 Guests are most welcome to bring a drink or home-made dish traditional to their culture. 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm Chelsea College of Art, 16 John Islip Street, London, SW1P 4ju 07949823988 rox_500@hotmail.com 3 to 8 May - Playcontra /201 Liverpool Road N1 1LX Islington private view 6 pm Wed 2 May and the exhibition continues from 3 to 8 May, 11 to 6 pm Playcontra is a group exhibition of 1st year fine art students from Chelsea College. The show is an exploration of many facets of drawing. The etymology of drawing means that it can take on such conflicting significations as movement (to draw the curtains) or a ceasing of movement (to draw in a match). It is hoped that in Playcontra, with the exploration of this already unstable category of practise filtered through a large number of disparate modes of art making, we can produce a show that demonstrates the extent of work now being made in Chelsea College. A recent feature of the new course structure at Chelsea is the removal of disciplinary limitations from studio and theoretical practise. This means the students no longer have to negotiate their practise within painting/sculpture/new media distinctions. For a group exhibition we felt the best way to create an apparent thematic overview would be to bear in mind this shared course-condition and re-apply a (possibly arbitrary) disciplinary limitation. The limitation we chose was drawing. [edit] The Exchange Show 07A group show featuring exchange students at The Cooper Union School of Art.
